Water for South Sudan has reached our goal!

Pumping water from new well in South Sudan
Pumping water from new well in South Sudan

Dear Friends of Water for South Sudan,

Thanks to your generous support we have raised the funds needed to drill a well in South Sudan!

Every well drilled brings clean water to at least 1500 people.  When people have access to clean water they no longer need to walk for water.  Clean water leads to improved health for all, especially children.  Once a village has a well, life begins to change.  Markets spring up; clinics and schools can be built.  Water for South Sudan is pleased to report that our 184 wells drilled since 2005 are bringing life-giving water to over 400,000 people.

Our crews have already begun the 2014 drilling season, and hope to drill 40 new wells this year.  We continue to monitor the news out of South Sudan and are hopeful that peace negotiations will bring an end to the conflict.  Our drilling crew has been able to start drilling without any problems and had already drilled 7 wells by the end of December.  They tell us that things are "business as usual" in the area around Wau, where we have our compound, and they feel completely safe in Wau and the areas in which we are drilling.  We remain in close contact with them.

Thank you for your continued support.  If you'd like to stay in touch with us, and receive our occasional email news updates, you can sign up for our email list here.  You can also stay in touch with us through Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you again for your help in bringing fresh, clean water to the people of South Sudan.

Sincerely,
