Dear GlobalGiving friends,
We are happy to report that we have photos and location information for the first GlobalGiving well! Our GlobalGiving donors fully funded the well, located in the village of Makuach Rual, Tonj North County, Warrap State, South Sudan. GPS coordinates are N 08 34 470 E 028 34 061. Village chief is Kuel Tong Akook. The well is serving a population of about 1000 people, although we expect that number to rise.
A well in this village means so much-- women and girls will no longer have to walk for water. New possibilities exist for all villagers now that they have constant access to fresh, clean water.
After a busy and successful drilling season our crews are now planning for the 2012-13 drilling season, set to start in December. Much needs to be done in the meantime-- checking equipment, ordering spare parts, deciding which villages will get wells.
Thank you for being a part of Water for South Sudan-- with your help we are able to drill wells and transform lives. With one well already funded we are now half-way towards funding our second well through GlobalGiving. Thank you for your support!
