Dear Friends of Water for South Sudan,

Thanks to you, our work continues.  Our crews have just finished the 2012 drilling season with 33 new wells.  We have now drilled 137 wells since we began in 2005.  Each well serves 1,000 to 3,000 people.  We estimate that our work has transformed the lives of 400,000 people in South Sudan.

There are always challenges to working in South Sudan.  The extreme weather, with temperatures nearing or topping 120 degrees, takes a toll on our equipment.  We had various equipment challenges this year, but were able to keep drilling.  The rainy season has started in South Sudan and the equipment will soon be coming in from the field to be assessed.  Plans for next drilling season will start soon.

The new nation of South Sudan continues to chart a course of development.  Our president and founder, Salva Dut, and drilling manager, Ater Thiep, are former "Lost Boys" who are now dual US/South Sudanese citizens and have relocated to South Sudan to make their lives there and help their people.

Our work never ends.  Thank you for your part in our success!
