Dear Friends,
This summer Water for South Sudan reported its best drilling season ever with 40 new wells! We have now drilled a total of 177 wells since 2005.
WFSS crews pushed hard to bring fresh water to as many people as possible during the drilling season from January through May. This season was not without its challenges, as crews figured out how to drill without use of compressors, when they were down for repair.
But 77 wells, bringing water to over 115,000 people brought many bright spots. Benson Deng, our assistant field operations manager, related this story.
While crews were finishing up drilling one of the villagers offered them four goats in thanksgiving for the well. When they declined his generous offer he told them it was the least he could do because the previous year he had lost 25 goats to hyenas when they had to travel long distances for water. A new well brings new life to everyone in a village!
Thank you for your support in helping us bring fresh, clean water to the people of South Sudan. Your support helps this fledging country at the most basic level, helping to bring development and stability, one well at a time.
Thank you!
