Meet The Principal Of Erode Isha Vidhya School
By Venkat Ramakrishnan | Project Leader
![Thilagavathi, the Principal of Erode Isha Vidhya]()
Thilagavathi, the Principal of Erode Isha Vidhya
Shares Thilagavathi, the Principal of Erode Isha Vidhya School:
My journey started as a 6th grade teacher at Isha Vidhya in 2010.
Before I joined Isha Vidhya, I had acquired nine years of experience
in a well–equipped school. Through a volunteer, I came to know about
Isha Vidhya schools, and the scholarship support provided to the
students. I was impressed by this concept because I had struggled
hard to complete my schooling and higher education after losing my
mother during my school days.
At Isha Vidhya, I experienced how education can transform life and
hence decided to be part of Isha Vidhya throughout my life. When I
was a student, my teachers introduced me to the beautiful world of
academics, so I decided to give back to the children.
When I joined as a teacher in Isha Vidhya, I met a scholarship student
named Kavitha in my class. Her story was similar to mine, she came
from a school that taught in Tamil as a medium. She struggled very
much to learn English. We helped her gain proficiency and to
understand the importance of education. When she was in grade 9,
I got the opportunity to be the Principal of Isha Vidhya Erode school.
It helped me to tend to many replicas of Kavitha undergoing the same
pain and struggle at a very young age.
Kavitha went on to become a topper, she scored 493 out of 500, and
stood first in grade 10. Now she is pursuing a career in Engineering,
and a student of Government Engineering College in Erode. Last week,
she came to our school and shared her wish to support children’s
education by donating a part of her earnings when she gets a job.
Kavitha inspires me a lot. She has become a role model for many other
students in our school. These children will soon become a valuable part
of our society.
I have miles to go and I wish that my actions speak louder. I express
my sincere thanks and best wishes to our donors, who are transforming
the lives of our children.
