Training on Long COVID-19

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

We are pleased to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our  Support Community Health Workers in Rural Areas project.

We are so excited to share with you that we are currently organizing a workshop on Long Covid-19.
If some one has recovered from COVID-19 but are still experiencing certain symptoms you could have post COVID-19 condition or "long COVID"
Community Health Workers (CHWs) are increasingly being utilized to alleviate the shortage of human resources for health, particularly in the delivery of interventions for primary health care. By serving as intermediaries between the community and the formal health system, CHWs are uniquely placed to serve resource-poor settings. CHW systems have been found to be effective in implementing interventions to prevent infectious diseases,  malaria prevention, health education, breastfeeding promotion, essential newborn care, and psychosocial support. As community health workers are the first contact with sick people, especially at the village level, it is very urgent for them to have enough skills in infection control and prevention, they need to have skills in infection prevention and control practices, surveillance, and contact tracing, safe and dignified burials, and social mobilization. It is important that community health workers should have skills on Long covid so that, early
treatment and follow-up can be offered for patients who recovered from COVID-19.

This will be a one-day workshop in order to enhance the level of management ( where to transfer patients, symptoms of long COVID-19, etc). We will conduct 4 workshops and 400 Community health workers trained will serve as peer educators as they will go back to their villages and teach others.

To be able to carry out the planned activities, we need immediate funds of 800 USD for the 4 workshops.  We request you to donate generously to our project so that we can keep working and achieve our goals.

We thank you for everything that you have done for our project, and we look forward to your continued support.

Thanks & Best Regards.
