Dr. Raghukumar, a practicing advocate
from Hyderabad and a Gandhian, recently
conducted a comprehensive “Get Mentored”
session on the Constitution of India for the
students of Isha Vidhya. He narrated it like
a story, and even discussed the constitutions of
other countries –making it an interesting
discourse.
The students as well as the teachers who
attended the session learned new things
such as how the Indian Constitution was
drafted in public, as opposed to the USA
Constitution, which was drafted by the
founding fathers and did not involve
common citizens in the process.
Vishnupriya, a Grade 9 student, says that
Dr. Raghukumar’s sharings were very
understandable. The interactions made the
understanding easier.
Sridevi, a Social Science teacher, says that
the insights she has gained from this
session will help her to teach the subject
better!

Sangeetha says that she excelled
in her studies simply because of
the way teaching is imparted at
Isha Vidhya. She was a school
topper at Isha Vidhya Tuticorin
with a score of 97% in Class 10
and 72% in Class 12.
She also walked away with top
prizes in oration and writing
competitions.This motivated
alumna is currently doing her
B.Sc in Computer Science at
the Holy Cross Home Science
College, Tuticorin. Inspired by
her sister, she wants to pursue
coding.
Sangeetha joined Isha Vidhya
on a scholarship in Class 2 and
says her teachers at school were
like her second parents. She
attributes her accomplishments
at Isha Vidhya to the method of
teaching, encouragement to
participate in extracurricular
activities, the freedom to express
oneself, and the food.
Although she misses Isha Vidhya,
Sangeetha says she finds the
progression to college exciting.

By Venkat Ramakrishnan | Project Leader

Indumathi-04-01-2020-GS
Indumathi's first brush with a lab
was at her alma mater, Isha Vidhya
Erode school. She feels that Isha
Vidhya's labs have fantastic facilities –
which stimulated her interest and
helped her learn well.
The constant financial struggles of
her father, a school dropout and a
lorry driver, have motivated her to
succeed in her studies. She was a
school topper with a score of 97% in
Grade 10 and 75% in Grade 12. In
pursuit of her favorite subjects –
Biology, Mathematics, Physics, and
Chemistry – she's now studying her
B.Sc with Biochemistry and
Biotechnology at the Avinasilingam
Institute for Home Science and
Higher Education for Women,
Coimbatore. She recently won a
prize for making a video to generate
awareness about the Coronavirus.
She says the transition from school
to college was challenging as the
college environment is a tougher
one than she anticipated, but she's
determined to work towards her
success!
