SORD Nutrition Report May 2022

By Riadh Saif | Project Coordinator

Child suffering of severe acute malnutrition
Child suffering of severe acute malnutrition

Dear friends,

we have achieved great success during the previous stage in providing health and medical services direly needed by the children, pregnant and lactating women in Yemen, where 86 children under <5 years suffering from SAM were rescued, 778 girls and boys suffering from MAM, 222 pregnant women and 231 lactating women have fully recovered and restored hope and confidence in life..

It is expected that, until December 2022, more than 2.2 million children and 1.3 million including SAM-affected children, aged 6-59 months totaling 538,000 will unfortunately be destined to suffer from acute malnutrition if preventive measures are taken ASAP. The western governorates (Taiz - Hodeidah - Hajjah) represent the most affected areas threatened with SAM cases. .

SORD will start providing life-saving services to children, pregnant and lactating women suffering from moderate and severe acute malnutrition in critical areas in Taiz Governorate located in southwest of Yemen.

I would like to reiterate that your gift or donation will save lives of vulnerable children and women who are the most affected in the current ongoing armed conflict in Yemen striving for survival under the catastrophic humanitarian situation described as the worst in the history of humankind. We therefore appeal to you for immediate donations and humanitarian aid that will a positive impact on the lives of the suffering children and women and children living under intolerable health an social situation in Yemen.
