Dear Friends,
It was but a brief dry season; the rainy season ihas returned in full swing to Simanjiro, and the village of Kiruru is no exception.
Despite the brevity of the dry season - which is when most building and construction work can take place - there has been considerable building progress in the village since we last visited. The community has constructed a new nursery school, which will be used to teach the youngest children in the village once the additional school classrooms have also been constructed. For now, Class 1 and Class 2 are making good use of their new room, complete with huge blackboard! Many thanks for your continued support in enabling these school facilities.
As part of our recent trip to Kiruru, we were adding in additional power connections to some of the local community buildings and houses. We were delighted to add the nursery school to the list of buildings we could connect, giving the children light to study with into the evenings, or when a storm rolls in. Even basic electrical facilities like this can make a huge difference to the lives of the children and teachers in these schools; we look forward to seeing the results of their studies in a few years' time!
There are several photos attached to this report of the new classroom, complete with the freshly installed lighting. We hope that this allows you to see the difference your donations are making in this rural community and we look forward to updating you soon on the progress being made on the build. In the meantime, if you'd like to share this project with friends and family, to help us progress the building of the remaining school classrooms and teachers' house, to be able to educate even more of the children of the village, the whole community of Kiruru would be very grateful.
Many thanks and kind regards
Kirsten and the SVRG team
