Our project 1155 Fast Track Education for Afghan Women and Girls has a chance to win a place in the GlobalGiving Girl Fund!
Donate to project 1155 today and help us get into the fund which provides monthly funds for a whole year! The more people who donate the better our chances!
AIL Learning Centers are founded on community needs and desires and are primarily for women and girls to improve their education. But boys and men have always attended centers and in 2019, 3,483 of the 11,011 students at Herat centers were male.
English is a popular subject for many people and the Herat centers provided English language instruction to 939 males and 1,101 females last year. One of our newer centers only teaches the English language and has 229 students (89 male).
The manager had this to say, “Staff have monthly meetings to report and share ideas. We program different levels for different abilities. We meet with students’ families about the lessons and AIL’s work. Students become more and more engaged as the course continues and enjoy the class.”
Thank you for your support for our work.
AIL is working towards
SDG Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
