The ongoing armed conflict since 2015 not only affected human beings in Yemen, but environment and animals have been affected severely too. One place of animals suffered in Yemen is Taiz zoo. It is the only zoo in the governorate of Taiz, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of citizens annually from various governorates of the Republic of Yemen to view the animals closely and enjoy looking at them and providing sufficient information about them in terms of their behavior, food, places of presence and other information that the visitor acquires to the park to teach their children and family what the zoo contains. It contains several predators, crawlers, pets, prey, poultry, etc. It also contains rare animals, such as the Yemeni tiger and other important animals, and the park is considered an environmental wealth for our country and a national, international and humanitarian duty to preserve and support it. By all means and capabilities.
The project will contribute to saving the animal species found in the zoo ofs Taiz Governorate, caring for them, nutritional and health care, and maintaining animal shelters in a way that preserves them, especially those endangered animal species such as the Arabian lions, lions, and other animals.
In the event of non-interference with the implementation of this project urgently, the health of the animal species in the garden will worsen in terms of health and food, which will lead to their rapid loss inside the shelter without being able to do anything to save their lives.
The high financial cost for the care and protection of animal species in the garden is also considered in relation to the park management and the lack of sufficient financial allocations to the point of not having monthly salaries to provide for all workers in the garden, and this would lead to a decrease in attention and care for these animals in an urgent and inevitable manner.
Brief description of the project framework:
The need for a project to care and protect animal species in the zoo comes at a time when these animals suffer from many real risks that greatly affect their health and food, as well as their usual natural behavior.
Because of the current critical and difficult situation in the country and the lack of financial allocations for the care and protection of these animal species, the opportunity for these animals to survive is very little, and there is no better than such an opportunity to intervene quickly and urgently to save the lives of those animals that are about to lose their lives in terms of Humanistic compassion and compassion for those animals that had no sin but to be inside the garden to entertain the human being and spend time with it.
With its self-finance, SORD tries its best to supply the animals of the zoo with acces to the basic services like feeding animals. To implement the whole objectives of the project, there must be much more support and funds to granted by individuals and\or organizations.
