From the month of April, 2022 Terra Renaissance in continuing to offer much needed capacity building support to the former child soldiers and war affected youth enrolled a total of 54 trainees with 35 being females and 19 being males who started training immediately in the month of April,2022.

Our training program employs a holistic approach of teaching Peace Building skills, basic literacy skills, life skills, music and dance alongside their various chosen technical skills of Fashions and Designs or Carpentry and Joinery.

The literacy skill is to equip the learners with reading and writing skills which most of them never obtained as their education were disrupted by the war and eventual abductions and forceful conscriptions in the LRA.

We also use Peace building sessions and traditional music and dance as a therapy and a coping mechanism to heal their minds of trauma and severe war memories and experiences as well as build their capacity of peace building, conflict prevention, conflict resolution and conflict management.

The technical skills of fashion and Design and Carpentry and Joinery are intensively practice oriented where they make real products ranging from fashions to furniture as can be seen in some of the images shown herein.

Our training program is a trimester framework where the one and half year program is divided into three different learning semesters with short vacation between them.

Accordingly, the learners obtained a short break that ran from the 31st August to the 15th of September, 2022, this was after assesment of the learners by the instructors to gauge their level of skills and competencies developed.

The end of the semester reported varied psychosocial and social issues amongst the learners which our staffing/counselors adequately supported and continue to do their best towards their effective learning for future self-reliance and peaceful co-existence.
