Rooms for a computer lab

By Betty Lopez | Project Leader

Hello Everyone,

Ojala is excited to announce that we have a new Board President. Antonio Cervantes joins us with committed enthusiasm, years of experience as an educator and bilingual/bicultural background.

The structural wall with iron gate is up, securing the property. Spring is here and soon, the rainy season. Our next step is to build the first few rooms of our ultimate goal of a complete Learing Center for the community of San Miguel Viejo that we are privileged to serve.

We recently receied a small donation to help us with the purchase of some computers, further demonstrating a strong community involvement. A computer lab was at the top of the list when we surveyed the members of the community, so we are anxious to provide this.

March 15th we had some very special visitors. 80 members of the Yale University Choir from the United States visited and sang for the community. We were able to invite visitors from San Miguel Allende and this provided a lot of exposure to Ojala and our project. It was a magnificent experience for our kids and the Yale students.

April 8th we held our first annual 5K run, it turns out, there are a lot of runners in San Miguel Viejo and the community is very supportive. The run started at the gate of our new building project so that everyone could see our progress. We had a lot of fun and hope to do this again soon.

April 30th is Dia del Nino, "Day of the Child" in Mexico, yet Ojala Ninos celebrates children and their families everyday.

Together with Global Giving and generous donations such as yours, we promise to work tirelessly offering opportunities in our small community not otherwise available.

Hope is an illusion without opportunity!

My sincere gratitude

Betty Lopez
