About the project:
The project aims to provide emergency medical care, protection, food and clean water to meet the immediate needs of animals in zoos in Yemen
The animals in zoos in Yemen are suffering from difficult conditions due to the ongoing conflict in the country
Many of these animals are in dire need of emergency medical care, food and clean water to survive
This project aims to provide these essential services to animals in zoos across Yemen
This will be achieved by identifying zoos that need emergency assistance and providing emergency medical care to sick and injured animals in these zoos
Food and clean water will be provided to all animals in these zoos on a regular basis
A long-term plan will be developed for the ongoing care and maintenance of these animals, including the establishment of a network of animal welfare organizations and volunteers to provide ongoing support
The project aims to uphold the principles of justice by ensuring that all animals, regardless of their species or origin, have equitable access to life-saving interventions
In this context, it involves meeting the urgent needs of every animal in distress, fostering a sense of responsibility for their well-being, and promoting the equitable distribution of resources to enhance their chances of survival
Achievements:
Amidst the armed conflict and societal collapse in Yemen, countless lives are hanging in the balance, including the lives of innocent animals trapped in zoos across Taiz, Ibb and Sana’a Faced with famine, drought, disease and inadequate conditions, these creatures are teetering on the brink of extinction Our project is a vital lifeline that aims to provide urgent humanitarian services and ensure their well-being and survival Through immediate care, rehabilitation and sustainable long-term measures, we will foster a future where Yemeni zoo animals are respected and protected with the respect and protection they deserve As the humanitarian situation in Yemen collapses, animals, especially in zoos
, have been particularly affected, with food, clean water and veterinary services not provided, leading to deteriorating health conditions that have led to their death and even extinction of some rare endangered species such as lions, tigers and the rare Arabian leopard if urgent action is not taken and life-saving emergency assistance is not provided The prolonged armed conflict since March 2015 has left a lot of destruction in all aspects of life, especially wildlife, which has become unable to preserve rare and endangered animals, including the Arabian leopard The tragic conditions have extended to include artificial parks dedicated to wild animals, which are no longer able to continue their work and meet the needs of the animals in them, which has led to the death of a large number of wild animals, including rare and endangered animals Since the organization has issued updates to the project in line with its expansion of activities during the year 2024 AD to include most of the zoos in Yemen, it has begun implementation according to the new update from the beginning of February 2024 AD Given the expansion of its plan, it has begun conducting a full survey of the parks, evaluating the previous stages and starting implementation of the plan
