Start of Semester

We officially began the Fall 2023 semester on August 19. How exciting to welcome the active scholarship recipients in this new cycle! We feel fortunate to have the support of LCI Monterrey, who provided their facilities for this event.

During this event we welcomed Alexandra Díaz from InRoads, who presented the project they are working on in collaboration with Google for digital certifications. Thanks to this collaboration, six scholarship recipients were granted a 100% scholarship to certify in one of the following subjects: IT Support, Data Analysis, Project Management, User Experience Design, and Digital Marketing and E-Commerce.

We are proud that as a team we can create strategic alliances to provide development opportunities for the women in the Comprehensive Scholarship Program, and we thank InRoads for this collaboration.

Workshop on Prevention of Violence in the Workplace

In response to identified needs by our team of therapists, we held the workshop on "Prevention of Violence in the Workplace." For three hours, Héctor López covered topics such as workplace harassment, sexual harassment, reporting formats and legal frameworks, accompanied by our Programs leader, therapist Felipe Rocha. We share some testimonies from scholarship recipients who participated in the workshop:

  • "I really liked it. I leave with more knowledge about violence, and I'm glad to know how to identify it, especially since I'm starting my professional life. Thanks to everyone" - Rosaura
  • "Thank you very much for the workshop; I leave with a lot to think about" - Valeria
  • "Thank you very much for the topic! I really leave with a lot of reflection. This is a topic that needs to continue being addressed in society" - Ana C.

Coparmex Workshop

We are also excited to announce the collaboration between CORDEM and COPARMEX. Their experience was the focus of this semester's workshop: the "START Employability Workshop" led by their Talent Attraction Director, Gilberto Martínez. For over three hours, scholarship recipients explored essential topics such as Introduction to the working world, Tools to pursue their dream jobs, Tips for successful interviews, Creating an impactful resume, and much more! The workshop took place at COPARMEX's facilities, adding a practical touch to the experience.

Graduation of ORGANIZATION Scholars

Ana, Perla and Edith graduated in the Spring 2023 semester. On November 27, their graduation ceremony took place: Ana graduated with a degree in Gastronomy, while Perla and Edith received a degree in Psychology. We are honored to have been part of their ceremony: seeing them at this moment is the best gift, you are a dream come true!

Thank you for inviting us to witness this significant milestone in your lives and allowing us to share this special day with you. Your dedication and perseverance on this journey we had the joy of witnessing and supporting inspire us deeply, and remind us that committing with ourselves is what takes us to truly extraordinary places. Congratulations, Ana, Perla y Edith! And remember that in CORDEM, you will always have a community proud of every step you take. Keep dreaming big.

End of Fall 2023 Semester

On December 2, we gathered at Casa Naranjos to commemorate the end of another semester. For some, this day represented the beginning of their experience in the Comprehensive Scholarship Program, while for others, it was their last event with us. Amidst emotions, gratitude and pride, we experienced the symbolic ritual of the candle, where graduates shared their light with the new generation.

We take this opportunity to share with the scholars and now graduates what we received from the Clothing Donation Campaign of Creel, to whom we are immensely grateful! Thanks also to Luztopia for gifting us 100 passes for our community. The scholars were tremendously excited to know that they will be able to enjoy such a beautiful experience: for some of them, it will be a dream come true and their first visit!

Allies

Signing of Prepanet Agreement

We are delighted to announce the renewal of our agreement with PrepaNet, a partnership that has been a cornerstone in our journey. These collaborations strengthen us, bringing us closer to fulfilling our mission.

Thank you for your unwavering support! We are grateful for this collaboration and the positive impact we are creating together.

Terra Regia Race

On August 27 the Terra Regia race took place, where CORDEM was selected for the second consecutive year as the benefiting organization of charity tickets.

We not only had the opportunity to meet the runners, but also to receive a check for the funds raised. These funds are being invested in fulfilling our mission: to continue promoting the personal, professional, and emotional development of our scholarship recipients.

The philanthropy and social commitment of companies like Terra Regia motivate us immensely. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! For your unwavering support and desire to continue this collaboration.

Ámbar Market

We had the great opportunity to be the benefiting organization for the activity of the student group Ámbar (along with Huella Verde) at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. This event consisted of a market with the sale of second-hand products where the participants were the students of the institution.

We had a space where we held an activity to raise funds and, at the same time, position ourselves in a younger population committed to supporting social causes! This event was a complete success: thanks to the participation of students and the economic donation by the organizing groups, we managed to raise more than 7,300 pesos. Thank you!

Creel Donation

Our relationship with Creel García-Cuéllar Aiza y Enríquez has been strengthening over time: not only do they collaborate with us in pro bono legal advice and support, but they are also constantly seeking innovative ways to support our cause. On this occasion, the teams from Mexico City and Monterrey joined forces in a campaign to collect a significant amount of women's clothing destined to our scholars and their families. We are immensely grateful for these actions and your commitment to CORDEM, Creel!

Coffee with Civil Associations

In November we were invited, along with more than 25 civil society organizations, to the first Coffee with Civil Associations organized by the Business Development Center of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and held at the World Trade Center.

We extend special thanks to Dr. Eugenio Reyes Guzmán, Director of the WTC Monterrey and a new member of CORDEM's Board of Trustees. Thank you for inviting us to participate and for creating spaces where our voices and causes can continue to grow!

Softtek + UDEMY's Alliance

We were invited to the signing of the agreement between Softtek and Udemy in their latest program: Codellege. This innovative proposal provides a wide range of IT-focused diplomas, aiming to reach vulnerable populations for free to improve their employability and social mobility.

This represents the promise to continue offering valuable opportunities to our community of scholars and graduates. Our commitment to empowerment through education is stronger than ever, and these resources will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their development and progress.

News and events

CEMEFI's Accreditation in Institutionalization and Transparency (AIT)

With the work and commitment from the entire team, this year we achieved the Optimal Level of Accreditation in Institutionalization and Transparency (AIT) awarded by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (CEMEFI). This accreditation represents compliance with good practices for Civil Society Organizations in Mexico and was the result of effort, professionalism, teamwork, and institutional strength.

We are honored to receive this recognition from one of the most solid institutions for the third sector in the country; we acknowledge that the commitment to transparency and institutionalization is a priority, and we hope it strengthens credibility and trust in our organization and its actions in the pursuit of our mission.

CORDEM's Team Dinner

In these last three years, CORDEM has undergone constant evolution, facing challenges and learning to improve from the inside out. To commemorate this journey, on October 24 we celebrated a dinner with our founder, members of the Board of Trustees, and the team. We also took the opportunity to bid farewell with gratitude to the trustees who concluded their cycle in CORDEM: Alejandro Márquez, Oscar Garza y Luis Galindo, and warmly welcomed five new members: Dr. Eugenio Reyes, Ing. Germán Hernández, Ana Lucía Tiscareño, Alejandra Martínez y Rolando Martínez.

Alejandro, Oscar y Luis: we know that your legacy will endure in CORDEM, and much of what you worked on will continue to blossom in the years to come. We wish that your commitment to women's education in Mexico continues to grow, persist, and evolve from new horizons. Thank you very much!

Graduates' Reunion

After more than 23 years, we celebrated our first graduates' meeting!

Almost 30 women who successfully completed their university studies through the Comprehensive Scholarship Program joined this special and emotional event. We had the presence of the team, as well as some current scholars who collaborated in organizing the event as part of their social service hours.

Throughout the meeting, we had the privilege of hearing the success stories of each of them. It was inspiring to see them after so long! Graduates from 2005, 2007, and many more generations were present, testifying that everything that has been done and continues to be done has been worthwhile. The seed CORDEM sowed has blossomed, which deeply moves us.

We want to express our gratitude to Myriam Cantú for sharing her art and talent voluntarily leading the activity with the graduates, who captured their experience in CORDEM and how they have transformed into their current selves on hand painted tote bags. Complementing this meeting, we received a visit from Softtek, who presented their Codellege program and offered courses similar to a technical career in Information Technology specifically designed for women seeking to improve their job opportunities.

Launch of CORDEM x Andrea Touché's Agenda + Wellness Journal

On December 5 we experienced the launch of our year-end cause product, at the Adela Café.

Together with the artist, Andrea Touché, 24collaborators and their companions, scholars, graduates, and more CORDEM community, we celebrated a milestone in this project. We sincerely thank all the sponsors who joined not only in this day but throughout the experiences we have built around this project:
