By Drop of Water | Communications Team
Following the last reporting quarter, our organization celebrated the successful completion of a vital water point in the Oromia region. This project, fraught with obstacles, stands as a testament to the resilience of our team and the unwavering need for such initiatives. Overcoming these hurdles brought a sense of profound satisfaction, underscoring the tangible impact of our work on the lives of the community.
Also in this quarter, we had the opportunity to shift our focus to the Tigray region, an area still highly affected with the aftermath of conflict. Originally, the plan we had outlined was to support the rehabilitation of five water points, a plan that was funded by the generosity of online fundraising spearheaded by a former board member and a lifetime volunteer. The original plan was however amended and allowed us to expand on with the help of another partner and now, we have successfully completed ten rehabilitation projects and are progressing towards the completion of a eleventh at the time of this report. This achievement holds particular significance, as Tigray was where DoW began by the efforts of seven female university students and was the location for the inception of our organization, nurturing and guiding us in our early stages. Returning to lend a helping hand in their time of need felt like a profound act of reciprocity, a demonstration of the enduring bonds forged through shared humanity.
Looking ahead, we are determined to extend our reach and impact. The coming months will see us finalizing the rehabilitation project in the Tigray region, focusing on various projects in the Amhara region, continuing our mission to bring clean water to those who need it most. Each project, each rehabilitated water point, represents a step towards a more bright and sustainable future for the community.
We are extremely grateful for all the support we receive, all our partners and funders for making our vision their concerns and supporting us through everything. Our work is far from over but we hope to share a future where access to water is not a problem for our future generations. As always, A big thank you to GlobalGiving, a partner that has been unwavering in their support for a long time. We appreciate the platform you have given us to help our voices be heard.
Water is life is the fundamental truth that drives our every effort. Ensuring its accessibility is not just an act, but a crucial participation in the survival of humanity and a defense of basic human rights. Every support we rally for this cause and each drop of water delivered to the communities we serve brings hope, resilience, and the tangible possibility of a brighter future. Our commitment to this cause in Ethiopia is unwavering, and with your continued support, we navigate immense challenges to experience the profound rewards of making a real difference in the lives for those who are facing water scarcity.
