Dear donors,
With the war in Ukraine in its third year, the need for humanitarian assistance remains high across the country and
more than 3.3 million people — including 800,000 children — live along the front lines.
The escalation occured on Monday, July 8 2024 when a missile strike hit Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital in Kyiv, causing terrified patients and their families to flee for their lives. Over those past two months, Kharkiv — Ukraine’s second-largest
city — has faced multiple attacks, leading to a sharp increase in casualties. Shelling and airstrikes have pummeled the city, striking schools, hospitals and residential areas.
Alongside increased air strikes, Russian ground troops have advanced into the northern Kharkiv region, and the impact on
children and families has been devastating. Thousands have evacuated into the region’s largest city, and thousands more are
without power.
In Ukraine, Save the Children is responding to this increase in Kharkiv while also focusing our assistance across other heavily
impacted areas across the rest of the country. In 2024, we aimed to reach 1,042,500 people, including 660,000 children, in coordination with 24 local partners in Ukraine.
