Thank you for supporting Save the Children's Ukraine Crisis Regional Fund! Here is an update on our ongoing work in Ukraine:
The Ongoing Threat to Children
Ukrainians are now enduring their third winter since the escalation of conflict in 2022. Children in Ukraine need additional support to make it through this challenging season.
"Everyone expects that this will be the worst winter that Ukraine has had so far." - Sonia Khush, head of Save the Children's Ukraine Country Office
More than 3.3 million people, including 800,000 children, currently live right along the front lines of the war. They experience the terrifying reality of living near active conflict — including the constant threat of airstrikes and the aftermath of devastating bombardments.
The impact of the conflict on children's mental health has been severe. According to our recent survey, 73% of children feel unsafe or fearful, and over half of all children in Ukraine are experiencing sadness or low self-esteem.
As Russian forces target Ukraine's energy infrastructure, many families are unsure of how they will heat their homes. Nearly 40% of the families that we surveyed reported that electricity shortages have made it difficult to keep up with online school.
Save the Children has been supporting the needs of children and families in Ukraine since 2014. We've been providing support across sectors, including providing rapid response following attacks.
Response Activities
Our programs include: child protection; cash assistance; education; mental health and psychosocial support; food security and livelihoods; and water, sanitation and hygiene.
Response Reach
We aim to reach 578,000 people with aid in 2025, directly and through 25 local and national Ukrainian partner organizations.
None of this is possible without the support of donors like you. Thank you for your generous contribution to help Save the Children in Ukraine!
