By Team Bumi Sehat | Project Leaders
Bumi Sehat Bali opened a sister clinic in Lombok after the devestating 2018 earthquake in north Lombok and the Gilis. The area was already underserved before the quake, which made the need even greater. Even as Bali tourism is returning to pre-pandemic levels, tourism hasn't returned to Lombok. Many people are still out of work and unable to afford healthcare.
Our Lombok clinic is run by Ibu Budi, a dedicated senior midwife originally from Bali. She oversees a team of six midwives. They all need to return to school for an extra year of training, as required by recent Indonesian Health Department regulations. This way, they can keep their licenses and their jobs at the Bumi Sehat clinic in Mataram. Keep delivering the gentle, loving, women-to-woman model of care that we give every mother, regardless of her family's ability to pay.
This year, we had planned to make this project the focus of our September Little x Little campaign, however, GlobalGiving won't be holding a campaign this month. We hope to make this project our focus for fundraising on Giving Tuesday in November. So watch your emails! We'll send an alert closer to the date.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
