In 2020, we launched Swazi SHEROES to mentor young women in Eswatini at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, teaching them skills and providing them with the holistic care they need to be economically independent. Since then, our SHEROES have learned to design and produce quality accessories and home goods for sale, catching the eyes of retailers around the world. Cincinnati-based board members Lizzie Ngwenya-Scoburgh and Karen Smith showed off their SHEROES bags to local fair trade boutique, Soul Goods, and they enthusiastically purchased inventory! Meanwhile, in Eswatini, Swazi SHEROES was invited to host a booth at the MTN Bushfire festival in collaboration with Indigenous Africana. Top producers were invited to attend the festival, where they valuable experience in sales and customer service. We look forward to meeting new vendors and attending future events so that even more young women can build thier entrepreneurial skillsets.
