Our work at the Mabati Medical Centre continues to focus on providing quality and affordable healthcare to the communities around us. Through various campaigns, outreaches and our commitment to caring for our community, we ensure that our activities remain true to our mission. The Mabati Medical clinic has administered medical treatment to 23,108 patients since January 2023. They have also conducted 7,567 laboratory tests and 2,459 radiology examination. Our laboratory and diagnostic services receive large volumes of patients due to the accuracy of reports and the long-standing trust that we have developed within the community in Kilifi County. At MMC, preventive healthcare campaigns is an integral part of our work. Through these services, we are able to educate our patients and the community at large on important issues concerning their health as well best practices for a wholesome lifestyle. This year, we have run 12 campaigns within and outside the clinic. Through our drives, we have screened over 6,200 patients for Tuberculosis, Athritis, and Prostate and Cervical Cancer. We additionally held a sexual and reproductive health awareness session with 400 trainees at Watulizeni Technical Institute to discuss the importance of regular HIV testing and cancer screening, as well as other factors that contribute their general health and well-being. Our partners have played an instrumental role in our work at the Mabati Medical Centre. Through their support, we have executed successful campaigns within the community and expanded our service offering. Together with NALEDI Initiative, we ran a successful cervical cancer screening camp at Rabai in Kilifi County and, thanks to the partner team, we attended to 453 patients. The Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani joined us to run an eye camps that saw 18 patients receive free cataract removal surgery. In partnership with Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital Mombasa, we provided free echocardiogram exams to children under 17 years. We are additionally delighted to share that, through an equipment donation from MP Shah, we will be setting up a physiotherapy unit at the medical centre. The Physiotherapy Unit will be a much-needed addition to our services and will assist many patients in getting the services closer to home. With the rapid growth and changes in the healthcare sector, it is imperative that our team keeps abreast with the most current policies, technologies and research. Our clinical staff went through a comprehensive training on Tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment and management; the Pharmacy department on pharmaceutical care and the laboratory technicians on Laboratory diagnosis in Global Health. With the great strides we have made in giving quality and affordable healthcare to the people of Kilifi County, we recognize that the support from our GlobalGiving donors plays a major role in enabling us to run our programs. With every donation you make, we move one step closer to expanding our reach and making healthcare accessible to each and every person.
