Project Report: Food Packages Distribution for 2024 Monsoon Flood Affectees

Location: Nasirabad Village, Balochistan
Date: October 18, 2024
Number of Beneficiaries: 100 Families

Overview:

On October 18, 2024, Alkhidmat Foundation successfully distributed essential food packages among 100 flood-affected families in Nasirabad Village, Balochistan. The recent monsoon floods have severely impacted the community, leaving many families in need of immediate assistance. Our food distribution aimed to provide vital support and alleviate the suffering of those affected.

Each food package contained the following items:

  • Flour – 20 kg
  • Rice – 5 kg
  • Cooking oil – 5 liters
  • Sugar – 3 kg
  • Lentils – 3 kg
  • Tea – 500 grams
  • Salt – 1 kg
  • Basic spices for cooking
  • Biscuits and dry food items for children

These essential supplies were selected to meet the immediate nutritional needs of the affected families for at least 2-3 weeks.

4. Beneficiary Selection:

The selection of the 100 beneficiary families was carried out in collaboration with local community leaders and volunteers, who helped identify the most affected and vulnerable households. Priority was given to families with the elderly, children, and individuals with disabilities, as well as those whose homes and livelihoods were severely impacted by the floodwaters.

5. Project Execution:

The distribution event took place on October 18, 2024, at a central location in Nasirabad Village. The event was managed by a dedicated team from Alkhidmat Foundation, who worked alongside local volunteers to ensure an organized and efficient process.

Key highlights of the distribution:

  • Smooth and orderly distribution with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Community involvement: The participation of local volunteers ensured that the aid was distributed fairly and to those in greatest need.
  • Direct impact: The 100 selected families received the food packages, offering them temporary relief and helping stabilize their food security during this critical time.
6. Challenges Faced:

While the project was a success, it was not without challenges. Some of the difficulties encountered included:

  • Logistical hurdles due to damaged roads and infrastructure caused by the floods, making it difficult to transport supplies to Nasirabad Village.
  • Weather-related concerns: Continued rainfall delayed the arrival of some supplies, but the team worked tirelessly to ensure timely delivery despite these challenges.
7. Conclusion and Impact:

The food distribution project in Nasirabad Village was a critical intervention, offering much-needed relief to 100 affected families. By providing essential food supplies, Alkhidmat Foundation was able to alleviate some of the immediate hardships faced by the flood victims, allowing them to focus on rebuilding their lives. The gratitude and relief expressed by the beneficiaries reinforced the importance of continuing such efforts in disaster-stricken regions.

8. Next Steps:

Alkhidmat Foundation remains committed to supporting flood-affected communities in Balochistan. Additional relief activities, including the distribution of non-food items, medical aid, and assistance in rebuilding homes, are being planned to help communities recover from the disaster.

Acknowledgments:

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors whose contributions made this effort possible. Your support has brought relief to families struggling in the aftermath of the floods, ensuring they have food and basic supplies during this difficult time.
