Support Human Rights Activists in Syria
February, 2022
Thank you for your generous support of SJAC’s “Support Human Rights Activists in Syria” campaign through GlobalGiving. Your contributions are helping us to develop new training modules and provide remote documentation training sessions for activists in the field, both in Syria and around the world.
This quarter, we focused our work on drafting a new training guide for conducting interviews related to violations experienced by minors. Documentation of crimes and violations committed against children is one of the priorities of the IIIM, and one of the most complicated tasks faced by activists in the field. As such, SJAC is collecting extensive background research and consulting with a range of experts to create a comprehensive guide for documenting and preserving evidence of these types of crimes.
Once this training is launched, it will prepare activists to interview parents, guardians, and trusted authorities about crimes committed against children. Rather than directly interview children, this training focuses on preventing re-traumatization of survivors and collecting information responsibly from individuals who have the psychosocial resilience to discuss traumatizing and stressful issues.
Thank you again for your support, and we look forward to providing further updates as our project progresses.
