By Cesario V. Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project helping those affected by the insurgency here in Mindanao. the Communist-inspired insurgency is one of the longest running insurgency in Asia and it has created havoc and mayhem to lots of families here. The displaced families either go to their relatives and build new lives or go to evacuation centers. Local government is having difficulty supporting these displaced persons and they are the most vulnerable. Some of them are suspected as sympathizers of the Communist movement and do not receive aid. Our strategy in helping them is to train them in different livelihood opportunities and then provide them with some funds in order to start their own business. Some of the livelihood activities that 430 of our newly-trained beneficiaries are undertaking include food vending, raising of small animals such as goats and chickens, carpentry, furniture making and bread and pastries making. We decided on this approach in order for the displaced families to establish themselves and not depend on the government or their relatives.
Hoping for your continuing support to our initiative.
Very sincerely yours,
Cesario
