Global Handwashing Day 2023

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

October 15 is Global Handwashing Day, a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. The hand washing with soap showed efficacy in the prevention of infectious diseases as well as COVID-19 that invided the whole world recently. The Global health threats posed by infectious diseases: RWAYDAVO is striving to combat the health crisis by generating and sharing knowledge, and practical expertise and producing data on infectious diseases in order to develop new tools and interventions. Community health workers are the key players in the community, especially in preventing and responding to global health threats posed by infectious diseases. This year, we are planning to celebrate Global hand washing day on 5th November 2023. Together with primary school students and community health workers we will carry out the event. The event will be attended more than 2000 people including students and community health workers.

During the Global handwashing day event, we will cover different topics that are common in health care and public health practice settings, infection control includes various measures that prevent and contain the spread of infectious disease.

These topics are the following:

  • Hand Washing
  • Infection control standards, contact, droplet, and airborne precautions
  • Procedures for decontamination of persons and disinfection of equipment and the environment
  • Quarantine of contacts (if necessary)
  • Prophylaxis of exposed individuals
  • Control of the vectors of infection

To do this we need 1000 USD,

To achieve this, we request you to donate generously to our project so that we can keep working and achieve our goals. You could also consider doing a monthly recurring donation for our project, which will help us with our ongoing work.

We thank you for everything that you have done for our project, and we look forward to your continued support.

Thanks and Best Regards.

Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana
