Dear Friends,
Wishing you all good health, friendship and a peaceful year ahead!
2020 was quite different than we expected in so many ways. YOUPSA friends reached out and showed that caring for disadvantaged rural children is now even more important than ever.
The Gamtoos Valley children desperately needed support to get through this difficult time. Your kindness allowed us to accomplish so much, including:
- keeping our weekly afterschool enrichment programmes running
- bringing creative care packages to children during the long lockdown period
- going on educational excursions, exploring the wider world for the first time
- distributing books to thousands of children and youth
- expanding reading opportunities for children by making pop up reading sessions on the streets of their neighborhoods
- sponsoring one youth to attend a quality high school
and SO much more...
Thank you for your care and helping us to create a brighter future for these children!
We hope you will stick with us through 2021. YOUPSA has exciting plans ahead including:
- continuing to grow our afterschool enrichment programmes
- giving children the opportunity to learn to play a traditional African musical instrument, the marimba, and starting up a marimba band
- further educational excursions to explore the wider world
- a childrens' mural art project to beautify community spaces, build confidence and build relationships and joy through the highly impactful medium of public mural art.
With gratitude and warm regards,
from the YOUPSA Team
