Newsflash: Dr. Yacoobi is one of BBC 100 Women 2017!
Learn to sew and start your own business! This is true for many women who attend Learning Centers (LCs) to take education classes. In Herat, in one month, there are 785 students studying sewing/tailoring, including two males. In Kabul, in that same month, there were 294 sewing students.
A Kabul LC sewing student reflects on her training, “Before attending this class, I would have to pay a tailor to make clothes for my children and me. Now, I am learning to make clothes for my children and for myself. I also make clothes for others, I save money and make money. This is a great opportunity for empowering women. I have a sewing skill and I can earn my own money. I am thankful for Professor Sakena Yacoobi for providing such an opportunity for Afghan women.”
Thank you for your continued interest.
