As students came back for the new academic session after the summer break in August, the country was hit by catastrophic floods, killing approximately 1400 people- one third of them children - and impacted at least 33 million people leaving nearly 220,000 destroyed houses and half a million more badly damaged. Apart from other losses, the education infrastructure has been damaged badly. The massive floods have fully or partially destroyed over 23,000 schools, hampering the education of at least 3.5 million students.
On September 15, Moqah Foundation brought together students, teachers and guest speakers on how climate-informed education can positively transform communities. The speakers illuminated solutions on how to control climate change in Pakistan and shared solutions for climate change's impact on the region. The students pledged to play their part to control pollution to help control climate change.
As always, Teachers Day was celebrated with enthusiasm. Students acknowledged the contribution of their teachers. Students also show their affection to their favourite teachers in the form of cards, and speeches.
All your donations to Moqah Foundation go towards educating the most deserving children. Our students hail from disadvantaged communities where we serve. Thank you for giving them the gift of education!
