Schools: Educating underserved girls in Pakistan

Every year, with end of winter break and as the calendar turns to January 1st, school children take the opportunity to set goals and aspirations for the year ahead. New Year resolutions offer students a chance to reflect on their past behavior, set meaningful goals, and work towards personal growth and development. Many students resolved to achieve better grades, complete assignments on time and develop effective study habits. Some resolved to learn but not just for grades while some were determined to learn new things. Teachers encouraged them and assured them to support their efforts and help them stay committed.

Before the winter vacations, the school had planned a fun-filled excursion trip for the students, an initiative, made possible through generous contributions of donors. The trip aimed to provide an enriching and memorable experience for our students, many of whom had never had the opportunity to participate in such an outing before. As always, the primary goal of the excursion was to create an educational and fun-filled experience that to broaden the horizons of our students. By visiting the Lake View Park, we hoped to spark curiosity and a love for learning, meanwhile exposing students to new environments and ideas and creating lasting memories that inspire confidence and aspiration. The bus ride itself became a fun-filled event, with singing, games, and an educational overview of what to expect at the destination.

Thanks to your support, all students enjoyed a nutritious lunch and snacks throughout the day. This incredible experience would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our donors. Your contributions covered transportation, entry fees, meals, and other essential logistics, ensuring that every child could participate without any financial burden on their families.

As we shift from a period of relaxation and freedom to the regulated environment of school, it is a significant milestone for students, parents, and educators alike. It is always both exciting and challenging as our students are back, looking forward to reuniting with friends, starting new classes, or joining new extracurricular activities.

The school staff welcomed the students back to school on 19 August. Colorful banners created a sense of belonging as they entered their classrooms. To help ease the transition back to school after the summer break, teachers had planned some fun activities to encourage collaboration, and to renew their enthusiasm for learning. Students helped their teachers in decorating the classroom with banners, posters and artwork, thus engaging them to build a sense of community and ownership.

Students were asked to write three of their summer activities emphasizing their favorite moments, two of them true and one false. Each child shared their statements and the rest of the class had to try to guess which ones were which.   It was great seeing the children laughing and enjoying!

Teachers will be dedicating the first few weeks of school to reviewing key concepts from the previous session to help students get back on track before diving into new material, to ensure a smooth transition. With the right support, students quickly readjust to their routines, overcome challenges, and look forward to a productive and rewarding school session.
