November 2023 SAVECats report

By Erik D. Andrulis | President and Executive Director

Welcome to our November 2023 Report!

Thank you for your sustained support for community cats!  We know there are many animal welfare projects that you can support - so we and the cats are so grateful that you have chosen to support ours!

We have now spayed or neutered well over 5500 cats in Anne Arundel County, approximately 1000 cats per year.

Three months ago, we submitted for a 6th year of funding from the Maryland Department of Agriculture's Spay & Neuter grant program for funding start in 2024.  And we are happy to report that we received funding!  Unfortunately, the additional support for Prince George's County cats in addition to the Anne Arundel County cats we have been receiving support for over the last 5 years was not approved.  We will continue to work with our PG county partners to help as many cats as possible!

In the 3rd quarter of 2023, from July 1 to Oct 31, we performed 288 feral cat surgeries in Anne Arundel County, with 173 spays and 115 neuters.  We continue to work with several partners in other MD counties to help 100s of additional community cats.

We got off to a late start because of last years' grant bleeding over until mid-April of this year. After a slow start we are back on track.

We have 384 cat spay/neuter surgeries left to do before next year's grant start date of April 2024.

SAVECats continues to work for community cats and for you, the local stakeholder and caregiver. Do you want to help us save more cats in Maryland and beyond? Donate today to help us in our mission!
