SAFE HOME 4 ORPHANS &VULNERABLE CHILDREN NIGERIA

We thank God for His faithfulness over the organization, the children, our board of directors, staff and all our donors in 2022. He has started with us same way in the year 2023. All glory belongs to Him.

The children were all taken to the hospital for medical checkup because they were all having cold symptoms. The doctor attended to them, he ran some test on the children, the result showed more of malaria parasite and infections. All were treated with some medications and well after couple of days.

The children resumed back to school very healthy on the 11^th of October 2022. The child protection unit (CPU) Alausa visited the home on the 12th October to check on the children their files and reports. 

The children’s school mid-term test commenced on the 17^th October and ended on the 21^st October 2022. The children did very in their mid-term exams.

The Ministry of Youth and Social Development monitoring team showed up at the home on the 17^{th of} October 2022 for inspection. Some repair and renovation were recommended. The home was given until December 31st, 2022, to send pictures of the repairs and renovation recommended.

On the 18th of Oct 2022, we received next paragraph message from our landlord after my discussion with him in regard to the repairs we have been told to do by the ministry that visited the 17^th of Dec, 2022

Good evening ma and I really enjoyed the 65 minutes discussion/ talk I earlier had with you today. Thanks for your efforts in making Nigeria great. Kindly note the highlights of our dialogue:
_In order for you to meet the conditions of the LASG, on the Orphanage premises, and as long as you can afford such without passing the bills to me in any way or to affect the property rent, you are at liberty ma.
_ I put tiles in all 5 rooms, kitchen, toilets etc. but if you decide to change any to your taste at your cost, no problem ma.
_ no renewal of the tenancy beyond 31st of August, 2024.

Our greatest challenge at this time, is to raise fund to purchase our own building, where we can relocate to, when our lease expired as we have been informed by the landlord.

The children resumed back to school from their mid-term break on the 31^st of October 2022.

On the 4^th of November 2022, we were called by the home officer from CPU and head of Jwc Adeniji Adele police station to come and carry a baby girl of 2years old they found abandoned at around Ajah area of Lagos state. She was immediately pickup and straight to the hospital for medical check-up. Couple of test were done and she was given some medications. She was cleared for serious communicable disease.

The home was renovated, painted, and given another look on the 11^th of November 2022, looking very beautiful.  Report and pictures of the repairs were submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Development. We were cleared and commended for job well done. 

The Asohon Orphans day program was held at Little Saints Orphanage, Palmgrove on the 14^{th of} November 2022 which the home was duly represented by two of our children, the caregiver and social worker.

Two of our had their school color day on the 18^{th of} November 2022 one of our children was the princess of blue house while another child was the prince of purple house. They both enjoyed the event.

The children commenced the 1^st term examination on the 28^{th of} November 2022.

New toys were bought for the children by the home and were delivered on the 30^th of November 2022; the children were really excited seeing the new toys on their playground.

Five of our children had their school's end of the year party on the 13^{th of} December 2022. They had fun and came home with gifts.

The children were all at the magistrate court for extension of care orders on the15^th December 2022 and they were all extended to March 2023. 

The children and staff of the home were at the Ighalo orphanage 5^th year anniversary and Xmas party on the 17^{th of} December 2022. The children enjoyed themselves and had fun.

To wrap up the year, we had our usual end of the year program which we always give back to the community and widows registered to our home. The program was held at the orphanage premises on the 20^th of December 2022. This year we had the program in collaboration with Hands of Hope foundation which came out successfully. We also celebrated one of our children's 10-year birthday on the 25^th of December 2022, it was really a memorable event for her and us as one BIG Family.
