July 2023 Report

By Erik Andrulis | President and Executive Director

Hi everyone!

This has been a year of change for the organization:

-change of address to 672 Old Mill Road, #250, Millersville, MD 21035

-sanctuary cats moved from Bob and Kathy's house to Drs. Sandra and Erik's house

-Bob and Kathy put their home - the original sanctuary at 3200 Ivy Way - on the market for sale

Effective June 2023, the cats arrived at their new home.  At first, Dexter, Firefly, Mandi, and Carey Grant were super scared - whereas Cali and Meowster acted like nothing happened.

Dexter spent most of his time hiding alongside Mandy under a bed while Carey and Firefly would find the hidey holes in the cat trees.  Firefly was the first to come out to get a snack.  Then Carey, and then Dexter.  Mandy did not come out, ever, but that has always been her style.

Unfortunately, however, we did notice that Mandy had stopped eating and her belly was swinging back and forth when she walked. After 5 days of not eating, despite presenting her with snacks and treats, Dr. Andrulis approached her and Mandy did not evade (which was not normal).  Dr. Andrulis palpated a massive tumor in Mandy's belly and observed that it has metastasized.  Shortly thereafter, Mandy was brought to the clinic and passed over the rainbow bridge. We also discovered that Mandy was, in fact, Andy. We never knew, as Mandy would never let us get close to find out!

Bob and Kathy continue to care for the other residents.  An update on them next time!

Warmest paws,
Erik
