Relief material distribution
Relief material distribution

COVID 19 followed by the devastating AMPHAN in Sundarbans area almost paralised the normal life of local people and put the people into an ocean of miseries. Huge requirement of life giving support and scarcity of resources put us in trouble to a great extent as our organisation is community based one and working for the community. Considering the situation we are trying hard to fulfill the need of the area.

During AMPHAN we have rescued the people and gave them shelter food etc. Just after that we started relief work and distributed tarpaulin, clothing,

Food items like rice, flatted rice, dried rice, biscuit, vegetable oil, milk powder, pulses, Atta, salt, flour, molasses, spices, sugar, Potato, Onion etc. were distributed.

Considering the pollution of the environment due to the area flooded with salt water and AMPHAN uprooted thousands trees and fell those into the water bodies with carcasses, we immediately started cleanliness drive and distributed lime,  bleaching powder, phenyl, soap, detergent, hand sanitiser,  mask, sanitary napkins, water purifying tab and liquid, medicines, emergency light  etc.

Due to shortage of drinking water as the source was either chocked or polluted, we immediately started to send full of drinking water tank to various spot through carriage van and distributed among the victims. As all the road was blocked due to uprooted trees it took time to import materials from outside because transportation was totally paralised for few days. Immediately after having least chance of bringing the items from outside we started to distribute packed drinking water of 20 liter jar and distributed food grade drinking water storage jar of twenty liter capacity to each of the victim family so that they can store the drinking water.

Each and every pond was polluted with dirty water with decomposed carcasses thus drinking water crisis for pet animals was a mounting problem. We started dewatering of polluted pond and fill with underground water.

Due to severe drinking water crisis in an affected area namely Guriargheri, we install a Tube well in such a manner which will be of using even in disastrous calamities.

Our organisation is situated in Sundarbans area and we restricted our area of operation in Sundarbans area only. Needless to mention, we are also facing huge damage due to ‘AMPHAN’.  Two training accommodation and asbestos roof school buildings are damaged. Learning materials, furniture, and many others usable got damaged. Estimated loss is thirty lakhs rupees (41000 USD) in terms of money. We are trying hard to revive and survive.
