Project update
![]()
Dear Patrons,
We are so happy to thank you and the GlobalGiving disaster response team for all the support that you have provided so far for the Relief for Families affected by Flooding in Rwanda project.
We are so excited to that we was able to start the project however we were unable to achieve our project goals as we
delayed to get enough funds for this particular project.
Background: In May 2023, floods had completely destroyed over 5,100 houses and affected an additional 2,500, more than 130 people were died and left with several injuries. These disasters were caused by floods and erosion, which resulted in houses collapsing on people. Floods have affected hundreds of farming households in this sector, increasing the risk of food insecurity.
The baseline assessment showed that food security is the main problem and the sector leaders advise to us to provide food packages, especially to the most vulnerable. There are a lot of needs that we can provide including emergency disaster relief, the package including food to families facing this disaster. Home Supplies (bed covers, mattresses, and hygiene materials), also flood resilient Shelter reconstruction is a priority as most of the families their houses were destroyed. Our volunteers also provide home-to-home counseling therapy and training on disaster management, prevention, and control of floods. As part of this project, we will plant trees and vegetation to retain extra water which can't be carried out within stream channels to reduce and prevent the flow of water from flooding.
So far RWAYDAVO has supported 55 families, and we have reached at least 316 people, and we need to reach 1979 people. We request you to donate generously to our project and please consider telling your friends and family about our project—you can share our project link on social media so that we can keep working and achieve our goals. You could also consider doing a monthly recurring donation for our project, which will help us with our ongoing work. We thank you for everything that you have done for our project, and we look forward to your continued support.
Thanks and Best Regards.
