 Introduction:

Yemeni children live in difficult conditions due to the ongoing conflicts in the country, and are frequently exposed to the risks of violence and violations. The international community and local authorities must take immediate action to protect the rights of these children and ensure their safety.

 Current situation:

Exposure to violence:
Children in Yemen face the risk of direct targeting and physical and psychological violence.

Violations:
Children are targeted in conflicts and become victims of human rights violations.

Lack of services:
Conflicts lead to the destruction of infrastructure and reduce access to basic services such as education and health care.

Measures to be taken:

  1.  Protecting children: Providing effective mechanisms to protect children from violence and targeting.
  2. Providing psychological care: Providing psychosocial support to children who have been psychologically affected by conflicts.
  3. Providing education: Ensuring children's right to quality and sustainable education.
  4. Providing health care: Ensuring children's access to necessary health care services.

 

Achievements during the reporting period:

  • Conducting a field survey of cases of violations against children, especially displaced children.
  •  Implementation of 3 awareness sessions for official bodies supervising and specializing in child protection and clarifying the risks of violations to which children are exposed.
  •  
  • Implementation of 46 sessions. Individual and group psychological support and awareness for 230 displaced children exposed to the risks of violations.
  •  
  • Contracting with 12 psychological and social specialists to provide psychological support and counseling to children and their families.
  • Enrolling 173 children in education in coordination with education departments and

  •  Referring 23 child survivors of violations to psychologists and doctors and conducting the necessary examinations for them.

 

Recommendations:

  •  International role:

Humanitarian support: Providing the necessary humanitarian assistance to support affected children and families.

  •  International pressure:

Exerting international pressure on warring parties to stop violations of children's rights

Conclusion:

The international community and local authorities must intensify efforts to protect Yemeni children from violence and targeting during conflicts, and ensure the provision of a safe and stable environment in which these children have the right to grow and achieve their full potential.
