Plant Trees in Cambodian Community Forests

On July 27-28, 2024, a successful tree planting event was conducted with the generous support and participation of numerous individuals and organizations. This event brought together 1,100 participants, including 517 women, 9 indigenous community members, 230 youth, 42 representatives from local authorities and the monastic community, and 1 person with disabilities. The contributions of funds and trees from compassionate donors near and far enabled this event to proceed smoothly, fostering environmental conservation and community collaboration. Participants actively planted trees, contributing to the shared vision of preserving natural resources and enhancing biodiversity in the region. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Royal Government, community members, youth, women, partner organizations, and donors for their unwavering support and participation. Your generosity and commitment inspire hope for a greener and more sustainable future. Looking forward, we are excited to announce that another tree planting event is planned for July 2025. The specific date will be announced in due course. We encourage everyone to join hands again to continue this meaningful mission. On July 28, 2024, the Peace Bridges Organization (PBO), in collaboration with MCC partners, Tahas Bible Institute, and Community Development Partner, organized an inspiring tree planting event in the Sangharukkhavan community forest located in Oddar Meanchey Province. This initiative brought together a remarkable group of 1,100 participants, united by a shared commitment to environmental sustainability.

Among the participants were 34 individuals from various backgrounds, including 25 women, who joined hands to make a significant impact on the local ecosystem. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and purpose as the community members set out to plant a total of 6,350 mixed tree saplings alongside 13,000 palm seeds.

The planting efforts included a diverse range of tree species, each contributing to the ecological diversity of the forest. Participants carefully placed 1,000 Thanong saplings, 500 Beng saplings, and 500 Koki saplings into the earth. They also planted 200 Sdau saplings, 3,800 Kranhoung saplings, and 350 Kranhoung Haisan saplings, nurturing the hope of a greener future.

The event saw an impressive turnout, reflecting the community's commitment to reforestation. In addition to the core group, 517 women, 9 indigenous people, 230 youth, 18 monks, 42 local authorities, and 1 person with a disability joined the initiative. This diversity underscored the inclusive nature of the project, demonstrating that environmental stewardship transcends boundaries and unites people from all walks of life.

As the day unfolded, the spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose filled the air. Participants not only contributed to the reforestation efforts but also forged stronger connections within their community. The successful planting of 6,350 saplings and 13,000 palm seeds marked a significant milestone in their journey toward environmental restoration.
