By Emmanuel Eriso | We visited one of the schools
Dear partner,
On this Earth Day, we bring a great story of how our young change agents impact the Earth by planting trees.
Recently, our monitoring team, led by our Executive Director, Uche Isieke, visited one of the schools where RUWAI planted fruit trees and rehabilitated a water borehole to help children drink and maintain the trees.
We are encouraged to see how fast the trees are growing, and some are nearing fruiting. The school children and our ambassadors are taking care of the trees. They also thanked RUWAI and her partners for donating trees and water to the school and for the regular training on tree planting, which they received.
Our project supervisor in the LEA primary school Alaita FCT, Benjamin, said in a few months some of the trees especially bananas and cashews would start producing. He noted that others, like mangoes, guava, and coconuts, are fast-growing.
RUWAI began planting fruit trees in rural schools in Nigeria to make fruits available and prevent children from leaving the school and going into bushes to search for fruits to eat. By planting these fruit trees, the schoolchildren will have the good calories ( energy food) they need to stay active at school and bring solutions to climate change.
Teaching the children how to plant trees is an innovative way to nurture patriotism in these future leaders who drive change and make society and the environment sustainable
We appreciate your donor's support and appeal for your continued giving and partnership
Sincerely,
Emmanuel Eriso
