Progress Report

By Amna Hassan Kazmi | CEO

Hamara Apna school” The Bamboo School” has officially closed for the summer break as children and their families have traveled to cooler regions like Quetta. Despite the closure, the school has remained a hub of activity and engagement for the students, who are using the time to maintain and improve their school environment. According to the schoolteacher Ms. Mahnoor Baloch daily 8-9 students come to school

Library and Interactive Play:

The school's library remains open during morning and evening hours, allowing children to continue their reading habits and engage in interactive play.

These activities help keep the children occupied and provide productive use of their time during the break using the library and watching educational videos.

School Maintenance and Improvement:

Cleaning and Organizing: Students are actively involved in cleaning the school premises and arranging books in the library.

Tree Planting: The children have taken up planting trees around the school, contributing to a greener environment and instilling a sense of responsibility towards nature.

Bird Feeders: Students are making bird feeders to provide water and food for birds during the summer. This activity highlights their compassion and understanding of wildlife needs.

Wall Painting: Elder kids are painting the walls of the school to beautify it. This not only enhances the school's appearance but also allows students to express their creativity.

Community Bonding

   - The children have developed an informal bond with the teachers during this period. This bond is reflected in their active participation in maintaining the school and their eagerness to see it flourish.

   - The sense of ownership among the students is palpable as they take on various projects to improve their school environment.

Despite the break, students frequently inquire about the school's reopening. Their keen interest indicates a strong attachment to the school and a desire to return to their studies and routine.

   - The proactive measures taken by the children during this period reflect their commitment and enthusiasm for learning and community involvement.

Impact and Observations

  • The students' involvement in these activities ensures that their time is used productively, preventing idleness and promoting continuous learning and creativity.
  • Through tasks like cleaning, organizing, and tree planting, the children are learning valuable life skills and the importance of taking care of their surroundings.
  • Activities like making bird feeders and planting trees foster a sense of community and environmental stewardship among the students.
  • Painting the school walls allows students to showcase their artistic talents and take pride in their contributions to the school's aesthetics.

Conclusion:

The Bamboo School, though closed for the summer, remains a vibrant and active place thanks to the students' dedication and creativity. Their efforts in maintaining and beautifying the school, combined with their anticipation for its reopening, underscore the positive impact the school has on its students. The informal bond developed between the children and teachers during this time is a testament to the nurturing environment of the Bamboo School. As the students await the school's reopening, their continuous engagement ensures that they are learning, growing, and contributing to their community in meaningful ways.
