Dear Maitri Friend,
We are pleased to provide you with an update on the happenings in our community over the past quarter. Our primary goal of promoting the overall well-being of our residents remains steadfast, and we are proud to share that we have continued to provide daily yoga classes and monthly group sessions centered on emotional wellness. Furthermore, we have organized health camps to cater to the health needs of our residents.
We recently organized a health camp on World Oral Health Day for our elderly widows at Maitri Ghar in partnership with KD Dental College. The camp aimed to raise awareness about the importance of good oral hygiene and provide our residents with the necessary dental care. The team of doctors and dental professionals conducted a thorough dental check-up for all our residents and provided them with dental hygiene kits.We also educated our residents about the importance of regular dental check-ups and how to maintain good oral hygiene. The health camp was a great success, and our residents appreciated the opportunity to receive such essential care. While providing emergency health care continues to be a challenge, we remain committed to doing all we can to address this issue.
Throughout the last quarter, our residents have been keeping busy and engaged in various activities, from celebrating International Women's Day to welcoming the arrival of spring with Basant Panchami. We have also observed Republic Day, which is one of the most significant national holidays in India.
In early March, our widow mothers celebrated International Women's Day in Vrindavan and Radhakund. This day served as a reminder of the importance of advocating for the rights and recognition of women. The mothers collectively shared their thoughts and emphasized the need for respect, care, and support at this stage of their lives. At Maitri Ghar, we take pride in offering our residents nourishing meals, regular health check-ups, access to mental health care, and activities such as yoga and kirtan.
Our elderly widows at Maitri Ghar embrace the colors of life through the celebration of Holi. Having lived through numerous obstacles, they have gained wisdom that is older than any of us. With a positive outlook on life, they celebrate festivals with hope and joy each year. As we welcomed the new season during our recent Basant Panchami celebration, our team and residents gathered on the lawn to share their love for one another. Holi is a vibrant festival that promotes power and freedom from old fallacies. Our Ashram residents celebrated it with zeal, fun, and frolic. We understand that many elderly widows live their lives feeling unloved and unseen, which is why at Maitri, we celebrate Holi with our Widow Mothers by showering them with flowers and petals. These celebrations reflect the strength of their journey and their resilience against all odds
At Maitri Ghar, our residents also observed Republic Day with pride and joy. We organized a flag hoisting ceremony to pay tribute to the country's freedom fighters who fought for India's independence. Our elderly widows sang the national anthem with great zeal, and we conducted a special prayer service for the well-being of the country and its people. Our residents shared speeches about the significance of Republic Day and the values that it represents, such as justice, equality, and fraternity
Our elderly widows receive the necessary support to live a comfortable life at Maitri Ghar. They are provided with nourishing meals, daily milk and fresh fruits, regular health check-ups, and access to mental health care. We also offer group therapy and counseling, as well as activities like yoga and kirtan. In addition, they have access to identity cards, banking facilities with zero balance, and the widow's pension scheme provided by the state. We ensure that they have enough warm clothing to face the cold, as well as new sets of sarees and other essentials.
We invite you to continue being our pillar of strength in making a meaningful change in the lives of these elders. Please consider sharing your blessings with our community and providing your continued support.
Sincerely,
Maitri Team
