Thank you so much for your generous donation to the GlobalGiving Myanmar and Thailand Earthquake Relief Fund.
Since we last spoke, the earthquake’s death toll has tragically risen to at least 5,735 people, and many survivors are still living in makeshift tents. With the rainy monsoon season now beginning, support is critical.
In recent months, we’ve sent several grants from this fund to high-impact community-led nonprofits.
Here is a short description of their work:
Our partners are making incredible strides, but there is still much work to be done. As the AAR Japan team shared:
“[Aid] is urgently needed to protect the survivors from heat waves and heavy rain for the coming season, especially people with disabilities and the elderly... We will continue our activities to ensure that “no one is left behind” in the recovery.”
As always, we deeply appreciate your donation in support of local communities affected by this crisis.
You give our partners hope, and us too.
With gratitude,
Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
