Project Report | Feb 3, 2023
Accompany My child to Grow up with Peace of Mind

By Wayne Mom | parent

Wayne, my boy is a low birth weight premature baby born at 30 weeks. When he was 2 years old, he was evaluated by the joint Early Intervention Evaluation as cognitive, language, and sensory movement developmental delays. He then started rehabilitation in hospitals and clinics.

When COVID-19 first started 3 years ago, I canceled rehabilitation courses between hospitals and clinics to reduce the risk of infection. But I understand that children's development would never stopped and early intervention could not be discontinued, I actively participated in parenting lectures, looking for resources for Wayne`s normal development . I have learned positive thinking and education methods from the parenting lectures and did help a lot .

It was so impressive and helpful the parents need to describe the current state of their children and sharing experiences to know each other at the beginning of each lecture. After listening to the sharing of different parents, I found that parents of the An- An Association are very attentive to accompany their children's growth, and they also recommended me to participate in the weekend arts -music-exercise parent-child therapeutic group activities held by An-An Association.

Therefore, from the second semester 2021, my husband and I started to take 2 children together to participate in parent-child activities every weekend, and learned together with the children from the Happy Angel Percussion Group, parent-child clay /ceramics classes , and roller-skates group. Get to know musical instruments together, and create clay and ceramics works together. Under the guidance of the teacher, Wayne and his brother were afraid of self-introduction at the beginning, and now they can share their works generously. Now, Wayne is very looking forward to classes, he is very happy every class, and he is making continuous progress.

At present, Wayne is participating in the Visual Motor and Visual Perception Training programs for learning disabilities a new and innovative programs held by An-An Assoc. After optic evaluation in ophthalmology clinic, Occupational Therapist will teach one-on-one. Parents will participate in the whole process to understand the training method. They will spend 20-30 minutes at home for visual training. Wayne made more progress in learning and are more interested in learning.

I am very grateful for the support and courses provided by the An-An Association, so that I no longer feel helpless and overwhelmed, face the real situation of the child calmly, and accompany my child to grow up with peace of mind.
