Jane is a little girl in the kindergarten this year. She is quiet and cute. She has a brother in the second grade of elementary school . Talking and laughing with her father, mother, and brother at home, and her expressions are also very good. Once in an environment other than home, including kindergarten, she doesn't say a word, and doesn't answer no matter anyone asks. The teacher is puzzled, the classmates don't know how to play with her, and the parents are very worried a lot ….. Psychiatrist diagnoses as mutism.
Unexplained mutism makes Jane intimidated by events, and she seems to fear contact with strangers. We encourage mom to let her participate in therapeutic activities with taiko drums and clay kneading that are not very interactive. Let her learn to be in the same space as the team. Mom spent a lot of time explaining, letting her know about the event and encouraging her to join.
In the first semester, participating in the taiko drum team, she only dared to stand on the edge of the activity, timidly playing the drums. In the clay class, she can knead clay in different shapes with her brother, but she dare not share it on stage. In the second semester, her drumming became louder; accompanied by her brother and parents, she was finally willing to go on stage and say her name.
Although she is still unable to complete the introduction of her work, we look forward to the next event, when she can bravely introduce herself and complete the introduction of her work accompanied by her family.
