We came, we saw, we conquered, and we plan on doing it again!
In our last report we spoke about how busy our Arts and Culture team was as they were in the process of preparing for our virtual Sounds of Celebration IX concert - the first of three events hosted by Education Africa and headed by our Marimba Specialist, Joan Lithgow. We’re here to tell you that it was a success – a concert that truly highlighted the importance of social cohesion in South Africa! Our Marimba Hub players put their all in it and in the process became more confident in themselves, realised the importance of community and were able to showcase their love of music.
In South Africa, September is Heritage Month, a month where social cohesion is of utmost importance. We have decided that this would the perfect month to give back and we will be making our Sound of Celebration IX Concert available to watch between the 14th and 18th of September. If you would like to experience the concert please follow us on our social networks (links below) as we can only share a working link on the 14th. Please do join us and share it with your family and friends.
Education Africa continues to expand on the Marimba Hubs programme, as we are firm believers of bringing cultural enrichment and opportunity to under-resourced communities. Right now, we have 19 Marimba Hubs, 9 Preschool Marimba Hubs catering to over 1400 children weekly. We also have a new addition to the programme - our Education Africa Alumni Band which also doubles as our internship programme, where our aim is to upskill and empower the South African youth.
Thank you for your continued support to help Make real change Happen!
