After a competitive process of sourcing for a contractor to build the LRC Annex, we selected Kalibin Building contractors Limited. Work has begun and it's a hum of activity as the LRC Annex is under construction. The contractor has mobilised construction machinery and built temporary houses at the site for the site workers as well as storage of materials like cement. The construction work is providing much needed empolyment opportunities for local people especially during this hard economic times due to of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The foundation of the building is being dug and cement is being mixed with concrete and poured to create the footers for the building. Supplies of building stone, steel and gravel are being procured in preparation for the next steps. We continue to work with the archtects of the biulding; Josephione and Edward of Concept Usoni Archtects and Interior Deigns. We are also working with other two consultants; Masfy consultants; for engineering consultancy and Pro-build Intergrated Projects as our quantity surveyors. These consultants are visiting the site frequently to ensure the work by the contractor is progressing as per the specifications of the archtectural and stractural drawings. We remain most grateful to Pro-build Intergrated Project for offering their quantity survey services pro-bono!
Executive Director James Musyoka commented," It's so exciting to see this project fully underway. Each day we see progress taking place". Esther Muinde, our librarian commented, "I am dreaming of the day when our new library is open with children and community members comng to borrow and read books."
We will be providing you a monthly update with pictures so you can see the progress of this project. We are deeply appreciative of your donation for the LRC Annex. We wouldn't be seeing this progress without YOU!
Asante Sana!
