EMPOWERING WOMEN & GIRLS TO DO MORE

By Francis Mbewe | Project Leader

Empowering women has proven to be the best investment we can make to change families and communities for better. This is what we continue to do at Kukula Solar with your support.

In January 2020 we opened our second Project Office in Katete District, and employed a woman, Maureen Zimba as our Area Manager. Because we believe women can hold leadership position and provide the much needed leadership in changing our world.

Between December 2019 and February 2020 we managed to distribute 204 solar lamps to women and girls in rural and slum communities of Chipata and Katete Districts of Eastern Province.

The 204 units are helping women to save upto $250 monthly and enabling girls to increase their study hours.

We took time to ask some of the beneficaries of the solar lamps and the responses from them were amazing. For instance, Wallen, a mother of 7 children told us that her domestic animals were always attacked by hynas but the moment she got a solar lamp from us, she has never recorded any attack or theft of her domestic animals.

For Elizabeth a grade nice pupil, she told us how she can study from 9pm to 11pm under a bright solar lamp we distributed to her mother, enabling her to improve on her grades.

For Mwaba, The solar lamp we distributed to her help to keep her small bussiness open till 11pm, increasing her income and expanding her business.

These are just few of the many testimonies we continue to receive from the field. These Solar impact are made possible with your continued support to our venture and together we continue to impact many lives for the better.

We continue to have an ambitious plan to reach last mile communities and for the next 3 months we plan to distribute 300 solar lamps to women and girls. This number is achivable with your support!

Together we can continue lighting up rural communities with quality, warranted and durable solar products!

Thank you for your continued support!
