Healthy Lunches - Bright Minds!
During the months of November and most of December the children at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center - including the program's children from partnering schools enjoyed meals and activities except for a 2-week vacation for the staff for Chrismas and the begin of the New Year. The new school year begins on January 6th and so will the daily meals. It is practically a daily challenge to raise the funds for daily meals for 480 children 6 days a week! 300 children will be eating breakfast and lunch from our own school kitchen as of this school year - ages ranging from 3 to 13 years old - nursery class to 7th grade.
For this reason, we are truly so appreciative of your wonderfully generous donations. We are constantly looking for new ways to raise funds and are very thankful for any great ideas and/or support. So please let us know what you think - and how we can creatively raise funds for meals for the children. Sometimes a little idea has a huge impact!
Asante Sana- thank you so much!

ENJOYING MEALS IN A NEW DINING HALL
By Debra aka Brique Zeiner | Chairwoman
The excitement was almost tangible! All of the Live and Learn in Kenya International children were present along with parents, guardians, staff, regional elders press, TV and of course a group of 19 guests from the US, Germany and the Netherlands. It was one of the largest and most festive celebrations ever seen at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru, Kenya. The beautiful and outstandingly-built dining hall was finally no longer a dream - but a dream come true - and a dream of a building. It was a wonderful feeling to enjoy all of the happiness, singing, and dancing - but that was nothing compared to the wonderful experience of watching the hundreds of children enjoying a warm and nutritious meal there.
It is only with your continued support that we were able to finish building the dining hall - but most importantly - feed the 480 children every day - six days a week - either at our own school or at our partner schools. But all of the Live and Learn in Kenya Kids can get together on Saturdays and 5 days a week during the school breaks to enjoy warm meals at our own dining tables.
We can only say ASANTE SANA - thank you so much - and please continue to make sure those plates are filled!

During the month of August the children at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center - including the program's children from partnering schools enjoyed meals and activities except for a week vacation for the staff - and then a few days that the government pronounced it forbidden because of the government-run census. The new term has begun and so have the daily meals. It is practically a daily challenge to raise the funds for daily meals for 455 children 6 days a week!
For this reason, we are truly so appreciative of your wonderfully generous donations. We are constantly looking for new ways to raise funds and are very thankful for any great ideas and / or support. So please let us know what you think - and how we can creatively raise funds for meals for the children. Sometimes a little idea has a huge impact!
