In order to promote road safety education among more than 600 students in schools in San Miguel de Tucumán, León began to implement workshops for children in educational establishments.
The proposal consists of creating a space for workshops and reflection that positions children as promoters of good road safety practices, carrying out participatory dynamics in schools and combining road safety education with creativity, music and play, involving students in an active and emotional way.
According to the plan, throughout the year the initiative will visit 7 educational establishments in San Miguel de Tucumán, reaching 600 children in fifth grade.
The León workshop leader in charge of the initiative highlighted that, according to official data, ‘in 2024, Tucumán led the ranking of road accidents, registering 335 deaths, a daily average of almost one victim every 24 hours, while monthly, the figure is close to 28 deaths’.
‘Motorbikes are the main protagonists in road accidents, the time range in which most accidents occur is from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and 80% of road accidents are due to inadequate use of helmets,’ he added.
This project aims to prevent accidents linked to the use of mobile phones in vehicles and speeding, involving children as active citizens and promoters of significant changes.
