New double bathrooms
New double bathrooms

Hello Friends,

Since our last update, I am happy to report, we achieved our goal of finishing the bathrooms before summer camp held last August! In the eleven years I have been working with this community, this has always been a main issue. Functioning, safe, clean bathrooms for our kids. We now have two seperate bathrooms for male and female with two toilets in each. There are two sinks for washing outside the entrance. We are forever grateful for your support in accomplishing this goal.

Not only did we finish the bathrooms, but we completed the kitchen also.

Many of our classes can and are, held outside here. We still have yet to complete the office and secure and controlled work rooms that are a necessity for our Community Center to be complete. Our goal is by the New Year!

I am ecstatic, proud, thankful and extremely grateful to share all the above with our supporters. I am also saddened to share the Bitter Sweet part of this journey.

Late last July our Founder, ElsMarie Norby "Elsa",  passed away at 83 surrounded by family, lots of love and so much gratitude from the community she gave so much to.

Elsa always said, "Hope is an illusion without opportunity"  She gave from her heart. Once she opened her gate, she never closed it to the children of San Miguel Viejo.

She afforded this author many opportunities also and I will always be grateful .

Thank You for your continued interest and support.

Sincerely

Betty Lopez
