By Kristina Gologanova | Project Leader
This project started successfully at the beginning of the school year in September 2021. This is our first project entirely aimed at supporting refugee and migrant children. The main activity is the provision of Bulgarian language lessons to children who have recently arrived in the country and do not speak the language.
Until the end of December, 171 hours of classes were held and the lessons were attended by children of different ages from Syria, Iran and Morocco. They were enrolled for the first year in a Bulgarian school and although they were very motivated to learn the language, they faced a number of challenges. In order for the help to be as effective as possible, we assist parents in communicating with schools and regularly provide them with information about their children's progress.
In addition, we prepare appropriate materials to make the lessons interesting and fun for children. We constantly encourage them to actively participate in all activities during classes.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
