UP Zambia is turning 11! Founded in 2014,The name "Undikumbukire" means "remember me" in Chewa, reflecting the organization's commitment to ensuring that 500 children in detention are not forgotten during cold season. As part of UP Zambia's 11th Birthday Celebration, we are launching a cold season donation drive for 6 detention facilities in Zambia. Your contribution will help provide food, warm clothing , hygiene items, and hope to those often forgotten.
Ten years ago, friends visiting Kamwala Remand, now Lusaka Remand Correctional Facility, with 50 blankets sparked a movement aiding thousands of children in the child justice system. Grateful children said, "Thank you for coming. Tonight will be warm. Tonight we will talk about being treated like human beings. Please do not forget about us." As winter sets in across Zambia, the cold nights are especially harsh for children in detention, causing physical discomfort and psychological strain.
A donation of $10 can provide 1 child with warm clothing, hygiene essentials and food. This contribution can bring comfort and show these children that they are not forgotten.
Your support goes beyond providing children with legal and social services . It reinforces the mission of UP Zambia that every child in conflict with the law is seen, heard and given a fair chance at justice and rehabilitation.
